Eco-Friendly Architecture that respects the enivironment and designed for making quality wine
The winery represents a will to reduce environmental impact and to maximize energy savings. The architectural choices function to guarantee the ideal environment for producing wines that respect the environment. For this reason, two thirds of the building — 5,600 square meters — lie underground. This approach allowed the winery’s architect to employ bioclimatic strategies and solutions. Solar panels, a natural cooling system, the use of stone and wood, and phyto-purification of water are just some of the elements that have been employed to build it.
“A winery is a little bit like a tree. We only see a part of it. The rest is in its roots underground. That’s where we find its reasons for being a building. And it’s this hidden posture that gives the architecture its energy, its cool temperature, and its vivacity. It captures them from the earth and gives them to the wine.

The estate’s 29 vineyards are scattered in different locations across Franciacorta. They cover a total surface area of 54 hectares. The average elevation of the vines is 200/350 meters a.s.l. And their average age is roughly 15 years. Every plant has its own characteristics thanks to varied exposure, elevation, and soil types. They make each one different from the rest. The subsoils are complex in origin. Some are morainic in nature while others are enriched by glacial river deposits.
“The fact that we employ organic farming creates even greater potential in the substrate. Organic practices improve the vitality of the strata that the roots explore as they extend themselves over time. As they dig deeper, they find balanced, active fertility.”
Pierluigi Donna, Vineyard Manager and Partner.
While we were studying the plans for the new cellar, we thought about spaces where we could work better and suitable equipment for respecting the integrity of the fruit, one of the essential requirements for the final quality of the wine.“
